Dust sticks to the adhesive surface

The so called dust dab samples are employed for the analyse of dust deposits contaminated with asbestos. This test is applicable for example for the enquiry of contamination in rooms or buildings in which asbestos fibres were set free because of the manipulation of asbestos products.

The tests are directly removed with a graphitic and a double sided scotch tape sample disc for the scanning electron microscope by dabbing on the dusty contaminated surfaces.

The sampling

Advantageous for the sampling are surfaces on which the dust was able to deposit undisturbed for a long time.
Specially suitable are deposits such as for example fine dusts which are not too thick and do not contain fluffing.
In the case of thick dust layers, the dust can be directly removed without dab sample and a material test can be carried out.
For the sampling with the dab sample, the protection foil of the sample disc for the scanning electron microscope has to be pulled off and the adhesive surface has to be pressed on the dusty surface.
If the dust layer is little, the stamp has to be pressed several times in order to reach a visible coating of the adhesive surface.

For the dispatch the dab sample is introduced in the appropriate tube, sealed and marked.
